NASS Hosts First-Ever #TrustedInfo2024 Week

For Immediate Release
Sept. 3, 2024

Washington, D.C. — The National Association of Secretaries of State (NASS) will be holding its first-ever #TrustedInfo2024 week September 9-13. Each day will have a different elections-related focus to further highlight state and local election officials as the trusted sources for accurate elections and voting information.

“I’m proud NASS is hosting a #TrustedInfo2024 week, and it’s my hope everyone will join us in amplifying these important topics. I’m also grateful to those in the elections community for collaborating with us to bring this information to their networks and audiences,” said Steve Simon, NASS President and Minnesota Secretary of State. “As always, I encourage Americans to prepare for the upcoming November 5, 2024, general election by turning to election officials for trustworthy, up-to-date information.”

The following is an outline of the week’s themes and corresponding event:

Monday, Sept. 9 - Military/Overseas Voting
NASS has collaborated with the Federal Voting Assistance Program (FVAP) to record a Military OneSource podcast episode, which will come out on Monday, Sept. 9 highlighting #TrustedInfo2024 for military and overseas voters. NASS President Steve Simon, Minnesota Secretary of State, and NASS President-elect Michael Watson, Mississippi Secretary of State, will be featured. NASS and FVAP will both showcase the podcast on their respective websites and social media channels.

Tuesday, Sept. 10 – Election Security
NASS will host an election security focused X (formerly Twitter) chat for NASS members and relevant stakeholders at 2pm ET. Follow along in real-time on NASS’s X account.

Wednesday, Sept. 11 – Voter Registration
To highlight voter registration broadly and National Voter Registration Day (NVRD) on Sept. 17, NASS will put out three helpful videos in collaboration with NVRD. NASS President Steve Simon, Minnesota Secretary of State, and NASS Elections Committee Co-Chair Michael Adams, Kentucky Secretary of State, as well as NVRD’s Campaign Director will each be featured. Simon and Adams also serve as NVRD Steering Committee Co-Chairs. NASS and NVRD will both publish the videos on their respective social media channels this day.

Thursday, Sept. 12 – Voting Methods
As Americans begin to make their voting plans, a pre-recorded discussion featuring NASS President Steve Simon, Minnesota Secretary of State, and U.S. Election Commission (EAC) Chair Ben Hovland and Vice Chair Don Palmer, will focus on how voters can better understand and find what voting options are available to cast a ballot in their state. The discussion will be launched on Sept. 12 on NASS’s website and social media channels.

Friday, September 13 – #TrustedInfo2024 Hashtag Party for States
NASS will host a #TrustedInfo2024 hashtag party for its members on Instagram and X. This is an opportunity for states to share highlights of their election information and from their #TrustedInfo2024 efforts since the initiative launched in Nov. 2023.

View NASS’s #TrustedInfo2024 page for more information and follow NASS on social media (FacebookInstagramX and YouTube) for updates throughout the week. A recap email will be sent to reporters with links to the above events after the week concludes.
