September is National Voter Registration Month

Washington, D.C. – The National Association of Secretaries of State (NASS) recognizes September as National Voter Registration Month (NVRM). Established by Secretaries of State in 2002 to highlight the importance of voter registration and participation, NASS has supported NVRM for the last 22 years.

“With the 2024 General Election just around the corner, we want to ensure citizens have the information and resources they need to successfully vote and participate in November’s general election,” said Steve Simon, NASS President and Minnesota Secretary of State. “If you aren’t registered to vote or need to update your information, now is the ideal time to check with your state’s Chief Election Official or local election administrator. We’re here to help.”

“Voting is a fundamental right for all American citizens, and we encourage those who are eligible to exercise their civic duty. I'm proud of our continued efforts to encourage participation here in Mississippi, including helping to register nearly 310,000 Mississippians since taking office in 2020," said Michael Watson, NASS President-elect and Mississippi Secretary of State.

NASS’s nonpartisan #TrustedInfo2024 effort directs voters to election officials’ websites, social media, and other materials for important information on voter registration, voting, becoming a poll worker, post-election procedures, and more.

NASS also supports National Voter Registration Day, which is Tuesday, September 17, 2024.
