For Immediate Release — Oct. 14, 2020 — Washington, D.C. — Yesterday, Tuesday, Oct. 13, the National Association of Secretaries of State (NASS) held an Elections 101 Press Virtual Brief featuring six bipartisan Secretaries of State, who serve as Chief Election Officials for their respective states — Hon. Maggie Toulouse Oliver, NASS President and New Mexico Secretary of State, Hon. R. Kyle Ardoin, NASS President-elect and Louisiana Secretary of State, Hon. Jocelyn Benson, NASS Elections Committee Co-Chair and Michigan Secretary of State, Hon. Frank LaRose, NASS Elections Committee Co-Chair and Ohio Secretary of State, Hon. Tahesha Way, NASS Treasurer and New Jersey Secretary of State and Hon. Kim Wyman, Washington Secretary of State.
The Secretaries briefed the press on election preparations overall, discussed the decentralized nature of elections, addressed election cybersecurity, voting by mail and other important topics reporters should know when covering the 2020 election.
