NASS Privacy Policy

This policy pertains to the National Association of Secretaries of State (NASS) and its website: www.nass.org. NASS maintains this privacy policy to convey information on what we collect from users and how that information is used. 

Collection of Personal Information

NASS collects the following information:

(a) Personally Identifiable Information. NASS only collects personally identifiable information when it is voluntarily provided using the NASS website. 

(b) Use of Cookies. The NASS website employs "cookie" technology. Cookies are small pieces of data stored in files on your computer allowing NASS to track your use of the site as you visit and revisit www.nass.org. The use of cookies complies with generally accepted programming standards and practices.

Use of Personal Information

NASS does not sell, share, transfer, or rent to third parties any information provided to the association through the use of the NASS webite without written consent, except as required by operation of the law, or in compliance with legal authorities. However, NASS may share an individual's information with certain third parties without written consent in order to further the purpose for which that individual voluntarily provides his/her information to NASS. Additionally, NASS requires all third party information management service providers to keep all information and other proprietary information found in our systems confidential.

NASS routinely collects, compiles, and reports statistics and information reflecting the use of the NASS website in order to analyze and efficiently manage our site, enhance membership services, improve outreach and educational efforts, improve site content and layout, and enhance our online offerings.  Some anonymous information from your computer hardware and software may be automatically collected when you visit the NASS website.  This information is used by NASS solely to operate this website and maintain its quality, as well as to provide user traffic information to our members.

We offer links to state business and licensing offices as a service to registrants based upon voluntary subscription. NASS may send registrants association membership materials if they have opted to use this free service. We do not share our mailing lists with any third parties, including advertisers, affiliates, or partners.

NASS reserves the right to take any action the association deems prudent or necessary to safeguard the NASS website and information in NASS systems and databases from malicious or unwarranted attack by viruses or hackers.

Changing and/or Removing Your Personal Information

You may request that NASS change or remove your information from lists used to send association emails, mailings, or other communications by submitting a detailed description of the desired action to the following e-mail address: sdodd@nass.org. Please note that after NASS processes a change or removal request, it is possible that non-active residual copies of your information may still exist in archive or backup media on our systems.

Control of Passwords

NASS is not responsible for any damages arising from the loss or misuse of passwords. If you have forgotten your password, please email: sdodd@nass.org. Your password will be emailed to you shortly thereafter. NASS will never ask for a password in an unsolicited phone call or email.
